Join us for a canoe tour especially for AARP members.  We will meet at the nature center and canoe together on the Dunstan River looking at the migrating birds and the other wildife of the marsh.

Location: Scarborough Marsh

Experience the sights and sounds of marsh creatures under the full moon. Watch for black-crowned night heron along the bank or snowy egret flying back to a nearby island for the evening. We may even see a harbor seal or a muskrat playing in the water.

Join us for a bird walk around the picturesque Fort Williams Park during the peak of spring migration. This coastal park is a great spot to see migrating songbirds as they make landfall after their noctural migrations, as well as a great diversity of seabirds just offshore.

Experience the wildlife and plants of Scarborough Marsh as you paddle the Dunstan River. Paddling through the marsh, you will be exposed to its many inhabitants, from the snowy egret catching fish along the edge of the river to the mummichogs swimming in the water. A trained naturalist will show you the numerous marsh plants and even give you a taste of an edible one.

This tour is suitable for both novice and experienced paddlers.

Explore the marsh for plants and animals through discovery-oriented, fun-filled activities that use all five senses. Participants will touch the marsh fish, the mummichog, look for the many migrating and resident birds, and look through algae to discover the minute creatures living there. This program is for "children" of all ages.

Kennebunk Plains is one of Maine's top destinations for birders to visit annually as state-rare and uncommon species are regular nesters here. Our targets will include Grasshopper, Vesper, Field, and Savannah sparrows, Upland Sandpipers, Brown Thrashers, and Eastern Towhees, among other grassland-specialty species.

Join us on Friday morning's this spring for an easy walk along the Sanctuary trails at Fields Pond.  We'll be sure to see plenty of birds, so bring your binoculars and dress to be comfortable outdoors.  We'll meet at the kiosk in front of the Nature Center.  Walks typically last 1&1/2 hours.  Free for Members.
