Preschool April Vacation Camp

Location: Gilsland Farm

A chance for children ages 3-5 to learn about habitat and stewardship through play and outdoor adventure. Each half-day session includes time for art, hiking, free play, games, stories, and songs.

Monday: Habitat Heroes
What is a wildlife sanctuary? How can people help provide and protect habitat for wildlife? We’ll look high and low to figure out how animals find food, water, and shelter at Gilsland Farm.

Tuesday: Habitat at Home
How do plants grow? Why are they important for wildlife? We’ll plant seeds to take home and learn about some of the native plants that support wildlife.

Wednesday: Food Chains
How are predators and prey connected? Where do plants get their energy? We’ll explore a special habitat at Gilsland Farm and try to figure out who is eating who.

Thursday: Wildlife on the Move
Where were bats all winter? Why did the turtle cross the road? We’ll explore why and how animals move in the springtime.

Friday: Earth Day
We’ll kick of Earth Day weekend with a celebration of stewardship and a special live animal show with the Center for Wildlife.

Location: Gilsland Farm

A chance for children ages 3-5 to learn about winter wildlife through play and outdoor adventure. Each half-day session includes time for art, hiking, free play, games, stories, and songs. 

Tuesday: Animals in Winter
Which animals are active in the wintertime? Which hibernate? We’ll explore how different animals spend the winter, and talk about what we like to do when the weather gets colder.

Wednesday: Animal Evidence
How does a porcupine walk and what do its tracks look like? We’ll find out when we put on our detective hats and search for the tracks, scat, and other clues that animals leave behind.

Thursday: Backyard Birds
Not all birds have flown south! We’ll look for the birds that can be found in winter, learn about how they survive, and make bird feeders to take home.

Friday: Snow and Ice
We’ll celebrate the end of vacation by enjoying a live animal show with the Center for Wildlife, then heading outside to create snow and ice art.
