Fundraiser for the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center at Nonesuch River Brewing, 201 Gorham Rd, Scarborough.
Join the Celebration! Enjoy a wonderful meal, great music by Shanna Underwood, discounts, door prizes and more. A portion of all the sales goes to the center. Just tell your server you are there with the Nature Center.

Peony Bloom & Ice Cream Social Member Celebration
We're celebrating YOU, our members with our Annual Peony Day Celebration.
This fun annual party is just for Maine Audubon members. Bring your membership card (or we can check your name at the entrance). New members can join and walk right in, too!
Come celebrate our amazing community with ice cream, art, live music -- and of course the iconic peonies of Gilsland Farm. See you there!

Picnic at the Pond - POSTPONED to June 7
This event has been postponed to June 7 due to rain.
Members $5, non-members $8 (optional boxed dinner available for an additional $12 each)

Don’t miss this special chance to visit Gilsland Farm at dusk as we explore a favorite aquatic ecosystem!
5-6pm Family Picnic and Concert!
We'll set the tables and put out picnic blankets for an al fresco dining experience! BYO food or reserve a boxed dinner while purchasing tickets. Matt Loosigian of Earth Jams will perform some of his playful, funny songs about ecology and being green during this time, too!
6-8pm Activities and Exploration
Scoop for, and observe, pond critters with Maine Audubon educators, learn about community science opportunities, join a bird walk around the pond, tackle a turtle obstacle course, and more!
Boxed Dinner from Leavitt & Sons includes:
1 wrap sandwich (3 options)
- Roast Beef, Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato
- Turkey, Muenster, Lettuce, Tomato
- Caprese: Mozzarella, Tomato, Balsamic and fresh Basil
- A beverage (bring your own container for lemonade or water)

Pollinator Parade and Festival
Location: Deering Oaks Park, Portland
Join Maine Audubon, Birth Roots, and Portland Rec for the 5th annual Pollinator Parade and Festival! We’re bringing this favorite event to Deering Oaks Park in Portland this year and hope you’ll come ready to learn, march with us while dressed as your favorite pollinator, and leave ready to take action.
10-11:30am Family Festival
Crafts, games, face painting, costume making, a pollinator scavenger hunt, and more!
11:30am-12pm Fifth Annual Pollinator Parade
We will march through Deering Oaks and the Farmers’ Market to show our support for pollinator habitat. Costumes encouraged!
12-1pm BYO Picnic
Participants are invited to stay and enjoy a BYO picnic. We encourage those who wish to buy food to visit the Farmers’ Market. Bring a picnic blanket and please be prepared to pack out any garbage.
Season Opening Celebration at Scarborough Marsh
The season opening weekend will be filled with fun and adventure! We will have canoe and walking tours, nature crafts, used book and bake sale, demonstrations, exhibits, and more! Sunday we will have a free 7:30 bird walk. The weekend will be capped off with our Snowy Egret 5K road race.

Snowy Egret 5K Run/Walk
The 11th Annual Snowy Egret 5K returns to Scarborough Marsh and the Eastern Trail on Memorial Day 2019!
$20 for Adults ($22 on the day of the race)
$5 for Kids Fun Run
The Snowy Egret 5K is the primary annual fundraiser for Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center, with additional proceeds benefiting Eastern Trail Alliance. The 5K course covers both pavement and dirt paths along the Eastern Trail. This event will take place rain or shine!
- Kids 1K Fun Run starts at 8:30 am
- 5K Run/Walk (ages 12+) starts at 9:00 am
Kids 1K Fun Run will start and end at the Pine Point end of the Eastern Trail. 5K Run/Walk will start at Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center and end at Peterson Field.
All parking will be at Peterson Field located at 135 Old Blue Point Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074. There is a 1 mile walk from the parking area to the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center for the beginning of the race. Please leave enough time to get to the starting line.
Directions to the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center and Peterson Field
From the north via the Maine Turnpike, take Exit 42, Scarborough, to Route 1 South. Turn left onto Route 9. Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center is located .8 miles on the left. Continue for an additional .7 miles on Route 9 and take a right onto Old Blue Point Road. Peterson Field will be .1 mile on your right.
From the south via the Maine Turnpike, take Exit 36 to Route 1 North. Turn right onto Route 9. The Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center is located .8 miles on the left. Continue for an additional .7 miles on Route 9 and take a right onto Old Blue Point Road. Peterson Field will be .1 mile on your right.
- 5K Run/Walk is $20 in advance or $22 on the day of the race.
- Kids 1K Fun Run is $5 per registrant (12 and under)
- There will be no refunds of registration fees unless the event is canceled by Maine Audubon.
Registration and Number Pick-up
Advance registration, t-shirt, and bib number pick-up will take place at Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, 9:30 am-5 pm.
Race day registration, bib number, and t-shirt pick-up will take place at Peterson Field.
What to Bring
Water and appropriate gear for the weather. This race is rain or shine!
T-shirts & Medals
The first 100 adult registrants will receive a t-shirt.
All participants of the Kids 1K Fun Run will receive a medal.
Snowy Egret Day
Location: Scarborough Marsh
Experience a day of family fun, including an early morning bird walk starting at 7am, a canoe tour, nature crafts, used book sale, nature walks and more. There will be special programs for children as well as displays and information.
A used book dealer has given us a large amount of nature books so our used book sale will be HUGE this year. We will also have excellent art books donated from the estate of Father Paul Plante. Come join us for this fun-filled day and celebrate all that Maine’s largest salt marsh has to offer! This event is held in conjunction with the Friends of Scarborough Marsh.
